Magazine Cover Review #3

1. What is the name of the magazine that you looked at and who made it?
The name of the magazine is "Cali" and Callie made it.

2. List two things you liked about the magazine cover
I liked the magazine photo itself and stands out because it is black and white. I also like that they used the coral color for some of the text because it is a good contrast between the black and white.

3. Suggest something to the creator to improve the cover
I think that some of the text should be a different color because it ends up blending in with the photograph.

4. Why did you pick this cover? Specifically what attracted your eyes.
I picked this cover because I liked the photo and I thought the headlines were positioned interestingly.

5. Is there a bar code? Is it appropriate in size and located in the correct place?
Yes there is a bar code and it is appropriate and placed in the corrected place.

6. If you were walking by the magazines in Barnes and Nobles would you pick this magazine up and look at it? Why or Why not?
Yes I would pick this magazine up because the black and white will stand out within the colorful magazines and also because the healines are small it'll differ from the other covers where the words are crowded.

7. Can you tell if it was a portrait or self-portrait?
Yes you can tell it was a self-portrait because it is taken so close.

Magazine Cover Review #2

1. What is the name of the magazine that you looked at and who made it?
The magazine name is "Basic" and Maria made it.

2. List two things you liked about the magazine cover
I really like the title (the name and the way it looks) it's big and stands out against the background. I also liked the photograph they used because the model is in the middle with a contrasting background.

3. Suggest something to the creator to improve the cover
Some of the text blends into the background, so I would change the text color on some parts.

4. Why did you pick this cover? Specifically what attracted your eyes.
I picked this cover because the title is big, I liked the white border and there was a lot of text around the subject.

5. Is there a bar code? Is it appropriate in size and located in the correct place?
Yes there is a barcode and yes it an appropriate size and located in the correct place.

6. If you were walking by the magazines in Barnes and Nobles would you pick this magazine up and look at it? Why or Why not?
I would pick this magazine up because it looks fun and young, and its simple color scheme makes it stand out.

You can't tell if it was a portait or self-portrait.

Bella's Blog

1. What is the name of the magazine that you looked at and who made it?
The name is "Cursive Club" and Bella made it.

2. List two things you liked about the magazine cover
I really liked this magazine cover because it is very sleek and there is an evident color pallet which makes everything flow and easy to look at. I liked the fonts and text size used because it looks very thought out.

3. Suggest something to the creator to improve the cover
I think it would look very intresting if they placed the title behind the model's head.

4. Why did you pick this cover? Specifically what attracted your eyes.
I picked this cover because it looked the most professional and the photograph itself was taken very well (really liked the unfocused background).

5. Is there a bar code? Is it appropriate in size and located in the correct place?
Yes and it is an appropriate size and located in the right place.

6. If you were walking by the magazines in Barnes and Nobles would you pick this magazine up and look at it? Why or Why not?
Yes! Because the headlines seem very interesting and all fall under the same category. I also really like the magazine name, and think it intrigues the reader.

7. Can you tell if it was a portrait or self-portrait?
It could've been a self-portrait if they had a tripod, but it looks more like a portrait because the lighting is in the perfect position.

Prompt Shoot Peer Review

1. Which photo do you like best? Why?
My favorite photo was the "The End" photo of the pathway in the grass. It has good leading lines and a good contrast between the colors, especially because it is in black and white. Everything is nicely balanced (such as the grass is even on both sides).

2. Which is your least favorite image? Why?
My least favorite image was the other "The End" photo of the double doors. The lighting was not the best and the picture itself was tilted. I think if they were to fix the light settings and shoot from a slightly different angle the picture would look better.

3. Overall, make two positive statements about their pictures.
I like that the theme is very evident in all their pictures and all of the images are simple and easy to look at. They are also taken from different points of view which adds variety.

4. Overall, what is one area that this person could improve upon in your opinion.
An area they could improve on is applying more rules of photography for stronger images.

5. Which prompt do you think they did the best portraying, from your perspective?
The prompt they portrayed best was "The End" (black and white photo) because it is a path leading towards something that is not obvious in the image, fitting the aura of "The End".

6. Which prompt do you think they did the least successfully portray, from your perspective?
The prompt they portrayed the least successful was the "Footprints" theme. It is not very obvious that it is a footprint, I think if they were to shoot from a different angle it would've looked better.

My Winter Break

1. Tell me what is the one thing that happened on your holiday that you will remember? It can be a trip, a family visit, a present, something fun.

Something fun that happened over my break was I got a good amount of money from my parents for Christmas, so I went shopping with my friends in the Galeria in Dallas. We stayed there for three days and explored the city. Another thing I did was get to sleep in LOTS, which was honestly my favorite part of the break.

2. What are your resolutions for the 2016 year?
My resolutions for the year of 2016 is to excercise more and eat healthier (typical). But I also want to stay organized with my school work. I also want to focus more on plying tennis, in hope to be better than I was last year.

3. What are you looking forward to in 2016?

I'm just overall excieted about the year, I'm excieted for the new semester to start and for me to get back on track with my work. I'm excieted for all the new people I'll meet this year and for all the fun events to happen that I don't even know about yet.

Best of 2015

Best Song

My favorite song of 2015 was "Love Yourself" by Justin Bieber. I really like this song because it sounds very different than his previous work and is a lot more mature. Unlike his previous songs (which I was never a fan of) it has a meaning and a story behind it. His vocals are also very strong, being soft and pleasing to listen to, but at the same time very strong. My favorite element of this song is he is able to get across a "rude" message in a very elegant way.

Best Movie

Inside Out was my favorite movie of 2015 because it was so much better than what I was expecting it to be, a movie that all ages can relate to. It was witty and humorous and conveyed an important message. What I got out of this movie was that some of our most important memories are not always the happiest, and it can be important to have sad moments in your life because they can lead to some of the most important moments. And without negative emotions, how would we be able to cherish the positive things in life?

Most Important News Story

The shootings and terrorist attacks that took place in Paris recently seems to be the biggest story of the year. To me it is very important because it rose a lot more concern and realization about ISIS, an event some people have to chose neglect and not acknowledge. It shows the violence that is still present in our world, and how it seems to be getting worse day by day. Like any terrorist attack, it came out of nowhere and took everybody by shock.

Most Important Person

I think Donald Trump is the most important person of they year mostly because he is so well known in the political world but also because many of the younger generation know about him and his intentions. It is also ironic how he is talked about so negatively by the majority, but is in the lead for presidential candidate. Although he has not done much for our country, there is a very large posibility he will be our president.

Entertainment of 2015

Kim Kardashian was for sure on of the most talked celebrities of the 2015 year. She is known for her cult loving reality show "Keeping up with the Kardashians" and in my opinion is responsible for the fame of her sisters Kendall and Kylie. Not only is Kim married to Kanye (who thinks he should be the person of the year) and gave birth to her son, which was a very popular story. She was very influencial with her style and fashion choices, and not to mention body image.

Best Photos of 2015

This is one of my  favorite photos because the story behind it was so shocking and unlike anything that has ever happened. And although on television Ms.Colombia kept a smile on, you are able to see her real emotions in this photograph. I like the way there's a lot of things happening, you are still able to focus on Ms.Colombia.

I like this photograph because it shows a very important discovery made in 2015 and being able to capture that on a photo, a world so far away from ours, makes the photo very interesting to look at. It's nothing like the other photos I was looking at which makes it stand out.

This is my favorite photograph out of all the ones I've looked at, simply because it is beautiful. It looks like a painting, unreal, because the colors are so vivid but soft at the same time and the leading lines look like they can go on forever. Overall it's very pleasing to look at and radiates a positive emotion.
